LIMITED EDITION PRINT by Nicolas Trudgian
Signed by Oscar Boesch of JG3 who is portrayed in this print taking part in Operation Bodenplatte in his Focke-Wulf 190A-8 'Black 14' on the 1st January 1945.
Hitler's desperate and ultimately futile attempt to counter the Allied advance towards Germany during the last winter of the war was his surprise attack, codenamed 'Operation Bodenplatte', on Allied airfields in the Low Countries at dawn on New Years Day 1945. All available Luftwaffe aircraft were mustered for this colossal attack and this drawing shows part of JG3's mixed formation of Messerschmitt 109 and Focke-Wulf 190 fighters skimming low over a snow-covered landscape approaching their targets of the airfields around Eindhoven.Published 2006
